REPLACE AND REDUCE THE WINDOWS

Three ways to replace and reduce the clutter of Windows desktop shortcuts

Replace and Reduce the clutter of Windows .What’s on your desk? Is it cluttered with all the acronyms you don’t need? Like many Windows users, you can save application shortcuts, files, and folders to the desktop for easy access. We believe this will make finding the icon on the desktop easier, but it becomes even more complicated when we have too many.

To improve your computer’s performance and reduce the stress of digital clutter, only use shortcuts for your applications. However, when you remove them from the desktop, you need another way to access your most frequently used apps and files quickly.

Here are a few ways to control clutter on your desk.

  1. Use the Start menu

The Start menu is like a stand of insides, where you can find all of the programs and file locations on your computer. It is always accessible regardless of the application in which you are working. Entree the Start menu by snapping on the Windows icon in the left turn of the screen or pressing the Win key on your keyboard.

On the right side of the menu, you can add thumbnails for the often-used programs.

  1. Find the shortcut for the program you want to add to the Start menu.

  2. Right-click on the icon.

  3. Click Pin to begin.

  4. Remove the icon from the desktop.

You can do the same with folders and file locations, but not for individual files.

Organize your start menu

When you start counting shortcuts to the Start menu, it can also get jumbled if you’re not alert.

You can establish the Start menu by making sets of similar program tiles. The menu contains several predefined categories, but you can adapt them to your needs.

Edit the group name by clicking on the existing title and typing a new one. Rearrange the groups by grabbing the two horizontal lines next to the identification and dragging them to a new location.

  1. Use the system tray

The taskbar is a Windows item located at the bottom of the screen. It allows you to start pinned programs and view running programs.

If you pin program shortcuts to the taskbar, you can still open them with a single click. To pin programs to the taskbar:

  1. Right-click on the cutoff you want to jot.

  1. 3. Remove the shortcut from the desktop.

If you need to keep many icons in the system tray, you can resize the icons to fit more icons without making the system tray larger.

  1. Right-click on the taskbar.

  2. Click on taskbar settings

  3. Click the toggle switch under “Use the small taskbar buttons.”

  4. Change the way you start your apps

If you want a wonderful fresh expression, you can hide all the icons on your desktop and use the system tray or start menu to open them. There are two other ways to open apps and documents without clicking an icon.

Cortana (with voice)

Cortana is Microsoft’s digital voice assistant. If you don’t want to use icons, you can tell Cortana to launch apps and open them. All you take to do is request, “Hey, Cortana. Find the document ‘and say the name of the paper.

To open a request, say “Start (program name).”

You may need to enable Cortana on your computer before running any of these commands. But if you are an Alexa or Siri fan, this may be the best way for you to access programs and documents while keeping your desktop clean.

Third-party apps (via search)

Pinning apps to the system tray or Start menu is handy, but there are many items in these places that can turn them into a mess, just like on your desktop. Avoid clutter by fitting a third-party app launcher like WoX or Keybreeze. These lists are containers with a short combination of keys such as Alt + space bar. Then enter the program’s name and select the item you want to open.

It would help if you made a routine of not adding shortcuts, files, and folders to the desktop. You can create a weekly or monthly reminder to clear your desktop – move folders and files in your documents, delete what you don’t need, and move shortcuts to the Start menu or system tray.

To further improve your productivity, you can use these keyboard shortcuts to work faster in Windows 10 and add more features with Power Toys.
